Men’s Health Magazines: What Is The Cutoff Year For Outdated Information?

Posted by NoChubbyHubby on November 21, 2009

I have stacks of men’s health mags which was given to me but most of the mags at dated back to 2001/2002. Are the health and nutrition info around that time no longer relevant or outdated? How do you determine what is still relevant and what isn’t?

Science is not like technology in that it’s still good after 6 months. The only time old information should be viewed as incorrect is when newer information is presented contradicting it. It’s best to also have some analysis as to why the new should be accepted over the old as well. Health information form ‘01/’02 is mostly still valid- not a lot of major stuff happens in such an old study (health and nutrition have been studied since long before Greece’s day). And the new stuff is mostly insignificant to ‘normal’ individuals. The FDA’s website is a good resource for food and nutrition information, and has good links as well.
